Tran-Ye Countsdown!

Ok, we are merely days away from the first semi-final, and I feel that it is appropriate to countdown the top 10 songs of each semi-final, starting at the very beginning (a very good place to start)! Let’s start with the first semi-final, 10 – 6!

Coming in at number 10 is a song which has a lot of people talking, and for some reason all those people are talking about it winning. I don’t share their enthusiasm, but this isn’t a bad song in the grand scheme of things. Here is Denmark, represented by Soluna Samay and her song, “Should’ve Known Better”.

At number 9 is a song which we think could do pretty great things in Azerbaijan. They have amongst themselves the eldest ever Eurovision entrant, and have already garnered a whole lot of media attention! They are of course the Russian Grannies or more appropriately, Buranovskiye Babushki. They have entered the delightful “Party for Everybody”, and whilst i don’t really want it to win the contest, seeing it in the final would put a huge smile on my face (for three minutes at least). here it is:

At number 8 is a country which is all but guaranteed a qualification place, and with one of the most impressive Eurovision CV’s of the past ten years it is no wonder why. Greece is back this year with a fab pop song after two years off in the relative doldrums, and even if they presented their song in a shopping centre, it is still pretty fab. Here is Eleftheria Eleftheriou with “Aphrodisiac”:

Meanwhile, number 7 is the erstwhile friend to Greece, and perennial 12 points giver, Cyprus, another country serving fab pop music this year after a year or so of rather odd stuff. Ivi Adamou is singing “La la Love” and it is a very Eurovision sounding song, and from rehearsals it is shaping up to be a very Eurovision song! Cyprus are yet to win the contest, is this their year? Probably not, but have a listen anyway:

Finally in this edition of Tran-Ye countsdown is a song which has received quite a bit of attention on the schlager party, Trackshittaz have become one of our favourites, but unfortunately have faded a little as of late. We are hopeful these guys can make the final, as “Woki Mit Deim Popo” is always a fun track to dance to. We can only hope, here it is:

Next time we look at our top 5 from semi 1! How exciting!

Remember,if you are in Brisbane on the 27th of May come along to Schlagerfest Brisbane’s first official Eurovision party! All proceeds raised will go directly to Healthy Communities!

Until next time! Happy Schlagering!!!

Eurovision So Far – Part 1

I’ve had a few requests (ok, just one) to get together all the songs which have already been selected for Eurovision and in a series of posts over the coming days I’ll post them all on here. Once all the songs have been chosen, I will review them all, and add a few which didnt quite make it as well! Here we go, in no particular order:

Bulgaria – Sofi Marinova “Love Unlimited”

The Netherlands – Joan Franka “You and Me”

Austria – Trackshittaz “Woki mit deim popo”

Ireland – Jedward “Waterline

Ukraine – Gaitana “Be My Guest”

Malta – Kurt Calleja “This is the Night”

Georgia – Anri Jokhadze – “I’m A Jocker”

Ive added the category “Eurovision 2012 – So Far” which will have all these posts together so you can scroll down and get the latest songs all together! HOERAH!!!

Its Trackshittaz and Jedward to Baku!!!

Ok, so after the initial disappointment of Austria not sending EVERYONE’s favourite bearded lady to Baku, we are absolutely overjoyed by the news that Trackshittaz are Austria’s choice!

Ever since they came second last year with Oida Taunz, we have been fans of theirs and with “woki mit deim popo” (shake your booty) they have a great song, with a great performance!

Here it is, and Vielen Gluck in Baku!!!!

The second selection to be completed this morning was in Ireland and unsurprisingly and thankfully, Jedward are once again through to the finals of Eurovision in Baku!!!

Hoerah, comparisons will be made to Lipstick of course, but ‘Waterline’ is still a pretty fab song – and it will become one of the favourites to win instantly! Here it is!

❤ Tran-Ye

Vielen Dank Austria!

Yes!

Austria has produced the goods this year, and their national final to be held on February the 24th is set to be amazing, thanks to Austrian radio station, O(with an umlaut)3 releasing 8 of the ten tracks aiming to represent Austria in Baku later this year. All the songs are available to be listened to here.

Having listened to the eight, (with the remaining two not ready to be released yet) we can safely say that we like about four (as in listen to them again) and we LOVE two (as in couch/kitchen/shower danzen lasha tumbai!!!)

Regulars will remember our post on what could have been last year and especially our love of Oida Taunz well the Trackshittaz are back! And whilst we haven’t seen the finished product (please include lederhosen and tractors!!!) we are loving “Woki Mit Deim Popo” (not sure what this means, but i have contacts and hopefully soon we will know!). Here it is!!!

Next is the favourite to win and why the bloody hell not, an amazing song, sung by a Drag Queen with a beard who goes by the name of Conchita Wurst. The song itself is a mix of last years Austrian entry Nadine Beiler’s ‘The Secret is Love’ and Hungary’s 2011 participant Kati Wolf and her song ‘What About My Life’. With a few big light bursts, a wind machine, some sequins and the ubiquitous power diva strut this could be a real hit in Baku. The only question remaining is whether or not Europe is put off by her beard? Here is Conchita’s song, ‘That’s What I Am’. Amazing.

Gosh I’m Excited!

❤ Tran-Ye.
